Conferences on the key roles of Catechists and Educational Leaders

This November St Kieran’s College is welcoming people who will attend two exciting conferences. The two conferences – one on International Perspectives on Forming Catechists and the second on International Perspectives in Catholic Educational Leadership, are timely and certainly draw together an impressive group of speakers on these topics. These conferences are a collaboration between St Kieran’s College and the University of Notre Dame Australia.

The Catholic Church in Ireland is planning, and indeed the process is already up and running in some Dioceses, to recruit and train Catechists to provide a greater pastoral and catechetical outreach in our faith communities. This new role sees lay people commissioned as leaders of faith-based education programmes in parishes, pastoral areas and dioceses.

Catechists will play a key role in our Church in the years to come. Aware of both the

importance of this ministry in the life of the Church internationally and of Catholic educational leadership in general everywhere, the Diocese of Ossory will host these Conferences from 28th November -2nd December 2023, in St Kieran’ s College, Kilkenny.

We look forward to welcoming people to Ossory and to St Kierans College and to what promises to be two interesting gatherings. Spaces at both conferences will be limited so please book now by emailing notredameaustralia@stkieranscollege.ie
